Dress For Sale 1

I got a wild hair tempted by a massive Tatyana sale, and regret the money I spent as nothing fit quite right. So, dress for sale! Stained glass dress tight 26in the waist 34in bust with room for much more than a B cup, up to 40in hips. This dress is more generous than I can handle in the bust and hips and length. Bubble silhouette may look best on a taller gal than I. Contact me, ladies $20 and I will give you the authentic vintage gloves with it for $5. The shoes were acquired from Racks Boutique in Midtown, I will sell them for $7 if you have a size seven/seven and a half NARROW foot. I also have two front tie tops in similar size, Small never worn except to try on as well $7 each. Contact me for photos and more specific measurements. If you’re local, try it on!

Winter Baking and Fashion, Vintage Apron 1

I buy items in threes apparently. Example, at the bottom of these links are links to the other two pieces in the series: Asian dresses, prom dresses, jackets (this the first of two to come) One of three aprons I purchased at the Folsom Antique Faire months ago, this is my favorite of the set. The apron could be classified more as a hostess apron, rather than a functional wear-it-while-you-work piece. That being said, ’tis the season for baking! Every holiday season since we’ve been married, my go-to cookie recipe is for “ginger snaps” but my modified version of the recipe leaves them soft, not crisp nor snappy and spiced more strongly with cloves than ginger. Perhaps they would best be named “holiday spice cookies”. What is your go-to cookie, or any holiday recipe for that matter?

Life is a BattleField

“Don’t fuck with me when I’m annoyed.”

Life can at times feel as if fighting battle after battle. The gentleman who wore this uniform, the photographer’s father, was a tail-gunner in World War Two. He knew something about fighting. He also may have known something about fear. Fear is a terrible motivator, and has no place on the road of an authentic life. When we are genuine and live honestly with ourselves and those with whom we are doing life, fear really has no place for together we may embrace our truths and do our best to live well.

Communications and Intelligence are key in fighting those battles.

With the right information, relax and set your sights on the next move.

Sometimes, you just want the battles to be over.

The battle of all battles was won ages ago. Stance of victory in my spirit gives utter confidence that every other battle may be grimaced. I gaze with hope and utter assurance that one day every battle ever fought will fade in light of ultimate victory de facto. The victory of which I speak is outside of time: it has happened, it will happen, it is happening. Do you feel the churning in your soul?

Thinking To Get Wet

Shane is super proud of this!

Making my way across the bridge to test the waters.

Once shooting at the caboose was exhausted, we headed downhill to this beautiful waterfall. The sun already set and the waterfall tucked into a corner of constant shade, this corner of the property is COLD. However, I was determined to get in that icy water and make like it wasn’t.

The whole area is slippery when wet, watch your step! Shane slipped and broke the camera at the other bridge. We are without it a few weeks for repair. What happens when you get too excited.

Finally, affirmation that the water is indeed freezing cold.

All right, y’all, no one wants to join me? Grab my sarong, I am going at it alone!

I Keep Going to the River to Pray

Getting warmed up.

“I keep going to the river to pray, cause I need something that can wash all the pain…” We blues dance to those lyrics of “Ghost” by Ella Henderson.

Our buddy, Trevor, scouted out this waterfall on private property in Grass Valley as a rad shoot location. The day he adorned me with body paint, we were rushed and the sun set by the time we migrated from the train car to the waterfall. Then, Shane slipped on mossy bridge and snapped the flash off the camera. We were left to shoot past dusk with no light. The water, by the way, was freezing cold as ice or the Pacific ocean. Our posse that day understood if I chose to abandon the shoot. I thought I’d step in a bit, then challenged myself to go deeper and deeper, then to finally actually sit in the fall. Many of these images will not be published as the low light made a formidable challenge for the camera to focus. Not to mention the fact that I am more fully exposed and not sure if that needs to be public. So here is what you can see.

Slow trek across the rocky foot bed.

Deepest right about here, then gets shallow again at the fall.

Love Lost

Your grieving process is unique. In no particular order, at some point the experiences are: isolation or denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Remember, we grieve not only relationships with other humans and mammals, but also personal loss of physical ability on account of disease or injury, as well as loss of roles and occupation, or even expectations in time of life. Where are you in whatever grieves your soul today?

Continued from Lost Love

Anger is a very real stage of grief.

Sorrow is not limited to separation by death.

Losses in life can motivate all kinds of behavior.

The pain does not leave.

Oh How Loss Hurts

You’re in the driver’s seat. Carry that love with you. May it grant strength and hope to love again.

Rodeo!

I’ve been to but one small town Rodeo in Athens, TN with my dad and aunt shortly after graduating high school. The previous year, I had a cowboy admirer who gave me a dozen pink long stem roses with an invite to a large rodeo. He had rolled up to my parent’s suburban chateau in his beat up truck, horse trailer still attached to make the delivery. I captured his attention in Chemistry class, where he sat behind me and we were lab partners with a third member. September 11, 2001 occurred and showing American pride the next day in cowboy hats were he, I and two other gentlemen. Sadly enough he was the only daily cowboy in my graduating class. This particular cowboy was the real deal and worked hard. I drove an old beat up truck myself, a 1976 GMC three quarter ton pickup. I think Cowboy spotted it parked across the street from my job at In-N-Out where he quasi-stalked me and followed me home to make the offer for a rodeo date. Some words about rolling in the hay may have spilled, and I was scared off. Looking back, I find it ridiculous that I turned him down. Such a fun and unique offer and a thought-through plan. He lent me his jacket one cold day at school and seemed a real gentleman, hay rolling fantasies aside. Just as well though, as I am pretty sure he fathered a child with another gal shortly thereafter. Too bad that fantasy did not include rubber. Apologies to the faint of heart, these photos are rather lame and felt compelled to use storytelling to make up for it. Desire is much more than what the eye sees, so much as what it imagines which words may provoke even more than images.

To finish my thoughts, and for the record, I would genuinely like to attend another rodeo one day, perhaps a larger scale. Rolling in the hay would have more appeal if I weren’t allergic to grass. Another event I would like to one day enjoy is a barn dance, yee-haw!
